VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Alopecia Areata is one of the more common forms of alopecia, with Wikipedia suggesting it affects about 2% of the population in the United States. It is characterized by round coin size, or larger, patches of missing hair, mostly on the head, but it can be on other parts of the body.

At its worst, alopecia areata can be severely disfiguring. Some people can have so many bald patches that they end up having 50-80% of the hair on their head missing, while others have lower numbers of bald patches, but instead have a greater size, with the patches being the size of the palm of your hand.

If you do a google search trying to find the cause of alopecia, the top ranked medical websites will say things like “it’s probably this”, or “maybe it’s this”, or “it’s likely it’s this”, which is really a nice way of saying they have no idea.

However, there is already a cause published in multiple medical journals: vaccines. Specifically, the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Back in 1997, Robert P. Wise headed a study published in JAMA, Hair Loss After Routine Immunizations. He reviewed a total of 60 reports of spontaneous hair loss after vaccinations, which were made to the FDA, CDC, or VAERS. Out of those 60 reports, they found that 46 of them had received the Hepatitis B Vaccine. This included all 3 types of the vaccine, the 2 recombinant ones, and the plasma-derived one.

A follow-up study of sorts was published in Pub Med Central in 2010, where they sought a confirmation of these findings by testing the Hepatitis B vaccines on mice, and lo and behold, the mice also had a rapid onset of Alopecia Areata.

Then more recently, in 2018, a paper called Evaluation of the Relationship between Alopecia Areata and Viral Antigen Exposure was published in Pub Med. They also identified an increased frequency of Alopecia Areata among those who had the Hepatitis B Vaccine.

The studies have been done, and the link has been confirmed. Vaccines, and predominantly the Hepatitis B vaccine, are a cause of Alopecia Areata.
