VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Trigger Finger is a painful condition where the finger can snap back during the release of a hand grip. Doctors will tell you it’s from overuse, but if you look at the data, it doesn’t support that reason.
Firstly, trigger finger is very common in menopausal women, who typically never fall into the overuse category.
Secondly, it commonly occurs in the thumb, middle, and ring fingers, but not as often in the most used finger, the index finger.
Thirdly, a 2018 study published in Pub Med Central found that trigger finger resolved without any treatment whatsoever in 52% of patients, with the average recovery time being 8 months. Additionally, the thumb resolved itself in 72% of cases, without any treatment. These patients did not reduce their hand usage, but the problem went away on its own.
All these examples indicate that to blame trigger finger solely on overuse is just not logical. The solutions the doctors offer are equally as illogical. Surgery. The number of patients who underwent trigger finger release surgery, and had the problem return immediately after, is astounding. In fact, it’s not uncommon for some patients to have the surgery more than 10 times in their lives.
If only they knew that the real underlying cause of trigger finger is inflammation. The first thing I would look at is diet. Caffeine is a big, excuse the pun, trigger. As are other well-known inflammatory foods.
Electrical inflammation is another cause. Are you always tapping on your phone, maybe a TV remote, watches or ipads? Or do you hold and use electrical devices like a mouse, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer etc. Every electrical item that you tap on or hold can put electricity into your body, and if you don’t release it through proper grounding, you will get electrical inflammation.
Now it’s fair to say that most of us use a lot of electronic devices, so why aren’t we all getting trigger finger? Well, apart from the grounding aspect, the body actually has the ability to fight inflammation, if it has enough vitamin and mineral resources. Taking a mineral supplement or changing your diet will help, and there have been cases where people have resolved their trigger finger just by taking Vitamin B6.
Another way you can tackle inflammation is with certain exercises. There are specific exercises which have been proven to be successful with resolving trigger finger. To find out more about them, please visit my website, at healthglade.com.
